Walking by faith

Please leave me your thoughts and comments, I would love to hear from you......

When you walk by faith you will often be met with much opposition. As homeschoolers, we are continually judged for our choice to dare to do something other than the norm! ‘’You are so brave “ is the most said comment! My reply is always, “You are so brave to send your children to school”and I am not anti-school , I am just pro-homeschooling. I am not saying you must all now homeschool!I am saying be careful of what you say to us who do! This choice didn’t come to me of my own doing. It was God who led me along this path. That is a story for another time, but yes God led me by his spirit. I plunged in out of obedience, not knowing what I was doing or where I was going or how things would turn out! BUT GOD!

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. HEB 11:1
Yet still I get judged by those ignorant of homeschooling, ignorant about walking by faith! We do not live as the world does! Ask yourself ,Why do you send your children to school? Why do you sit in judgement of those who do not? It is because you have been inculcated by the world view of the day, which says….. Children have to go to a school to get an education, then they have to do a matric or school leaving certificate so they can get into university and then get a job! No! this pattern does not work for everyone! People are sitting with degrees unable to get jobs. Some children have special needs and do not fit the system, they are out of the box thinkers. What about apprenticeships and entrepreneurs?

Einstein who was homeschooled by the way, along with these other famous and successful people https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_homeschooled_people
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. ROM 12:2
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Cor 2:10-12
Which brings me to another point .God has a plan for us,for our children and we need to follow him and trust him to work out that plan in spite of us. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
I have homeschooled for 12 years and have seen many struggles but also many joys. Not much different to all of you. But in my journey I have had to learn to fully rely on God for everything because I cannot do it in my strength! I just cant, I don't have all the answers but I know the one who does and he if faithful!
Are you walking in obedience , Are you walking by faith? Are you trusting God with your everything. Are you allowing yourself to be led by the spirit? Or do you listen to your family and friends or even your children?Do you make decisions based on what God says or out of fear , fear of the unknown or fear of failing?
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.Gal 1:10
I will leave you with this ……
Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground
Psalm 143:10

  1. First of all thank you for linking up with my linky #mg. I have honestly always envied those who homeschool, the thing is and I know it may sound like an excuse but I feel like I am not smart enough to educate them mainly with math. I have rouble seeing myself as smart, and I always have, even though I have a university degree I feel like I question my abilities far too much, but maybe that's down to my anxiety. I also have social anxiety so I feel it would be hard for me to join groups, but who knows maybe that would have ben good for me. I choose a school for my children that is on a farm, and is very focused on art and music as my children are passionate about these things. It also is a school that has religious teachings so i feel good about that and I help run the Sunday service which at first was very hard for me but I feel like you say it feels like the right path despite my anxiety about whether I am doing good enough. I admire your choice.

  2. We are considering the home school concept for 7th and 8th grade, still a few away, thank goodness. It scares me and provides awe at the same time! #mg xo
